The ‘Bath house Reykjavik’ is the result of a process based research investigating the relationship between weather, water and built structure. After an urban investigation which created a network of projects in the harbour of Reykjavik, I found myself on an industrial site with barely any context. A flat landfill with tarmac surface and sea as only boarder. To deal with this situation I worked with the characters most evident on site – the surrounding weather and water. I created a bathhouse consisting of a string of individual rooms telling the story of the ever changing weather that is so characteristic for Iceland. With the warm water as a backdrop, always present in the Icelandic culture.
